Coach Hunt is a 1990 graduate of Tate High School in Cantonment, Florida. His high school baseball team finished in the final four during his senior year. Upon graduating from Tate, Coach Hunt signed a scholarship to George Wallace of Hanceville for Coach Randy Putman. During his time at Wallace he was a 1991 Academic All-Region honoree. His sophomore season at Hanceville Coach Hunt’s team was the first Alabama Junior College to advance to the NJCAA College World Series. While at the NJCAA World Series Coach Hunt was named Team MVP, Won the Golden Spikes Award for the top hitter, and was the first Alabama player ever to be named on the All-Tournament Team in Grand Junction, Colorado. Coach Hunt received offers from many major Division I schools but chose to play close to home at The University of South Alabama where he and Coach Hattenstein were teammates on the 1993 team that reached the final game of the NCAA South Regional. He was named to the All-Tournament Team while finishing his season with a .350 batting average.
Coach Hunt is self employed as a civil general contractor and currently resides in Theodore with his wife of over 20 years Stacey, his daughter Abbigail, and son Gabriel.
