Bishop State and Industrial Valve officially launched Alabama’s first Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program.

MOBILE, Ala., Sept. 6, 2024 – On Thursday, September 5, 2024, Bishop State Community College and Industrial Valve officially launched Alabama’s first Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program with a signing day event at Bishop State’s Gene Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing Technology. The event commemorated the signing of the program’s first two apprentices, Justin Huber and Demetres Robinson, both students at Bishop State.

The new apprenticeship program is a result of the collaborative efforts between Bishop State and Industrial Valve, aimed at equipping students with hands-on experience and the skills necessary for careers in advanced manufacturing. As part of the program, apprentices will work three days a week and attend classes two days a week, working toward nationally recognized credentials with the goal of securing permanent employment upon completion of the program.

Bishop State President Olivier Charles addressed the crowd during the event, highlighting the significance of the partnership and praising the students for being the first to embark on this exciting opportunity.
