The Alabama A&M Bulldogs and the Southern University Jaguars will face off in the 2018 Gulf Coast Challenge Saturday, September 22 at 4 p.m. Before they take to the gridiron, the bands of both universities will march in the Gulf Coast Challenge Parade is presented by Bishop State Community College. Join us Saturday, September 22 at 9 a.m. to see the bands and your Bishop State student leaders in the GCC parade along with community floats, throws, candy, and tons of fun! GCC parade will run on a new route. The route starts on Lyons Street and will make a left on Broad Street. It will continue on Broad until making a left on Government Street. The parade will then make a quick left on Washington Avenue before it ends at Congress Street. The Mobile Police Department will patrol all areas of the parade.
GCC was created to enhance the exposure of Historically Black Colleges & Universities in this enriched community. The event highlights the community’s exclusive interest in HBCUs and the roles they play in educating aspiring professionals & developing our future leaders.
The Gulf Coast Challenge will attract thousands of fans, alumni, school members and family members from these respected communities. This event also has a goal to raise scholarships funds for the participating schools for years to come. Doing so will help to support the knowledge and experience offered by the discipline, commitment and dedication it takes to be a Historically Black College & University student. Fans and alumni from both institutions will be hosted in Mobile for the love of the game, the passion for their team, the fellowship of the alumni and the untapped fun of this flavorful city.
