BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Guy Divin Samandari and Katlyn Sampson were chosen to represent Bishop State Community College as members of the 2022 All-Alabama Academic Team.
The students were selected from their colleges by members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for the students’ demonstration of academic excellence and intellectual rigor, leadership and service, and for a commitment to extending their education beyond the classroom to benefit society.
More than $53,000 total in scholarships was announced for 48 of the Alabama Community College System’s (ACCS) top scholars across the state during the 2022 All-Alabama Academic Team (AAAT) Recognition Program at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Winfrey Hotel on Friday, April 22.
Samandari is from Bujumbura, Burundi. His program of study is General Education and currently has a 3.87 GPA. Samandari plans to attend Alabama State University and earn a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. His goal is to return to Burundi and create a company that will contribute to the economic development.
Sampson is from Chunchula, Alabama. Her program of study is General Education and currently has a 4.0 GPA. Sampson plans to return to Bishop State Community College to start the nursing program to become an RN. Her goal is to care for patients in her community in a doctor's office setting.
The All-Alabama Academic Team recognition program was founded in 1995 to complement the All-USA Academic Team Program that is sponsored by USA Today, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and the American Association of Community Colleges.
