Shipfitters are responsible for using various tools and equipment in the fabrication, assembly, and erection of metal parts for the construction of modular units, which are utilized in the various stages of building a marine vessel. This program is available at no cost to students.


The ten-week training program is designed to provide entry-level employment with local Ship Builders.


Training Includes:

  • Safety
  • Orientation to Ship Building
  • Ship and Marine Blueprint Reading, Terminology, and Welding Symbols
  • Stick Welding, Torching, and Burning
  • Hands-On Training
  • Hands-On Projects
  • Practical Application

Requirements to Enter Program:

  • Minimum age of 18
  • TABE Test required upon enrollment
  • Must be willing to take and pass a drug test

Class Offerings
