What is FAME on the Coast?
The Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) is an advanced manufacturing program that provides the technical, professional, and hands-on skills needed for entry-level manufacturing careers. FAME students gain paid work experience while earning an associate degree.
FAME on the Coast is a unique work-based learning program that helps to meet the employment needs and challenges in advanced manufacturing. This need is satisfied by providing participants with paid work experience. The students are equipped with a related theory that is cutting-edge and hands-on labs that consist of the latest technologically advanced equipment available.
The program offers two career pathways: Process Operations Technology and Advanced Manufacturing Technology. Both program curricula are the same for the first two semesters. This allows students time to determine which pathway is best for them. The FAME participants attend class two days per week for 16 or more hours. In addition to the class time, participants work a minimum of 24 hours a week in a variety of careers.
FAME prepares students to get jobs and teaches them how to keep their jobs through professional behaviors and practices.
