Bishop State Community College is a diverse and inclusive institution. The College provides reasonable accommodations to qualified students with disabilities as defined in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) as amended. The ADA Office, located in the Oliver H. Delchamps, Jr. Student Life Complex on the Main Campus, serves as the campus resource for all Bishop State Community College students with disabilities.
ADA Support Services
Students are responsible for registering their needs with the ADA Office and providing appropriate disability documentation. The documentation should be from a qualified provider and include a diagnosis as well as information related to functional limitations (documentation is maintained securely and disability diagnoses are kept confidential). Early contact is essential to allow sufficient time for evaluating, planning, and arranging needed accommodations and services. ADA application processing may take up to two weeks. Disability accommodations are not retroactive. Bishop State Community College does not grant provisional accommodations. Your application must be completed prior to receiving services. The ADA Office does not provide attendant (personal) care or financial assistance. For detailed information on available services and eligibility criteria, consult the ADA Handbook or contact the ADA office located on the Main Campus.
